YARMOUTH-  Sometime just before 2:00pm Law Enforcement Officials needed to put down two injured deer on Higgins Crowell Road.

Both deer were severely injured and suffering after being struck by a civilian passenger vehicle.

Yarmouth Police, Yarmouth Natural Resources, and Massachusetts Environmental Police were on scene to investigate the incident.

A Yarmouth Police Officer and a Massachusetts Environmental Police Officer each needed to discharge their service weapons in order to prevent the animals from further suffering.

One official reported that there were at least 6 deer spotted in the immediate area during the time of the accident.   Another deer was spotted on the road in the same area Friday evening, and motorists are advised to use caution when driving in the area.
