Three Stolen Vehicles, Police Arrest 2

 WEST YARMOUTH- On Friday, March 30, 2007 at 4:00am Yarmouth Police responded to a report of a crime in progress regarding a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero being stolen on Circuit Road.

At the same time, another caller reported a single vehicle crash into a utility pole nearby on Forest Road. Yarmouth Patrol Officers Michael Zontini, Louis Nickinello, Paul Mellett, and K9 Patrol Officer Marc Thibeault arrived in the area and determined that the vehicle stolen from Circuit Road West was the one that crashed on Forest Road.   

Upon further investigation Officers found an abandoned 1999 Volvo S80 in the middle of the travel lane on Winslow Gray Road and a 1991 GMC Sierra pick-up truck on Meadowbrook Road with a person hiding behind it. Yarmouth Police Patrol Officer Zontini encountered the person and brought him in to Yarmouth Police Headquarters. 

The on-scene investigation indicated that all three vehicles had been stolen from neighborhoods in West Yarmouth as follows:

  • 2001 Oldsmobile from Circuit Road West
  • 1999 Volvo from Beach Road
  • 1991 GMC from Morgan Road

 Barnstable County Sheriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigators Terry Dinnan and Neal McGonagle were called to the scene and performed crime scene evidence processing on all three stolen vehicles. 

Yarmouth Police Detectives Charles E. Peterson and Eric H. Nuss met interviewed the subject and placed him under arrest. Throughout the day members of the Yarmouth Police Department investigated the theft of the motor vehicles as well as the break-in of numerous motor vehicles. 

During the investigation, the name of a second suspect was developed. At 5:00pm Yarmouth Police Detectives met with the suspect at Yarmouth Police Headquarters.  Upon completion of an interview the suspect was placed under arrest.  

Police recovered numerous items that had been stolen from the various vehicles involved.  Both suspects were arraigned in the Barnstable District Court on Monday, April 2, 2007.
