HYANNIS- Saturday morning at approximately 12:30am Barnstable Police dispatched two squad cars to Pufferbellies for the report of a “past assault.” Upon arrival Officers radioed that things were still heated, requesting additional Police units to the scene. Officers also put out a description of a man in a red ball cap, possibly in an older model brown Caprice, wanted for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
Inside, the Hip Hop crowd was enjoying the evening when a fight broke out. Punches were flying and two young women bystanders accidentally got caught in the fray. An out of control Hyannis man allegedly hit one of the women with a beer bottle, kicking her 3 times in the head while she was down, she was treated and released later from Cape Cod Hospital. The other woman received a punch to the face.
Numerous Barnstable Police Patrol Units converged on the area, investigating all traffic. One stop was made in front of Cape Mart on Center Street.
Arrested for several charges, the most serious one being Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, was Junior Clarke, age 21, of Hyannis, according to Barnstable Police Sergeant Sean Sweeny.
Several Patrol Officers stood outside of Pufferbellies until the club closed at 1:00pm in order to keep the peace and encourage everyone to safely leave the area forthwith.
