HYANNIS - Hyannis fire fighters responded to two structure fires this afternoon.

At approximately 11am fire fighters contained and extinguished a smoldering chimney fire at the Cascade Motor Lodge on East Main Street.

Shortly after 1pm, just after clearing the Cascade, fire fighters rushed to the Regal Cinemas at the Cape Cod Mall after an electrical fire caused smoke.  As a precaution the cinemas were evacuated for a short time.

Fortunately both fires produced little damage and no injuries were reported.

Larceny from a person over 60

HYANNIS – Tuesday – At 3:28pm Barnstable patrol units responded to the Shaw’s supermarket on Route 132 for an unarmed robbery in progress.

Initially officers had a difficult time locating the reporting party in the area of the service desk.

Eyewitnesses provided a description and direction of travel of the suspect.

Police quickly converged on a red Ford Ranger in front of the Old Country Buffet, right next to Shaw’s.

Celeb Bickford, 23, of Marstons Mills was arrested and transported to Barnstable Police headquarters.

Aaron Higgins, 23, of Hyannis also eventually turned himself in later.

Both were charged with larceny from a person over 60.

The victim was not reported injured.
