HYANNIS – Friday night – approximately 9:30pm - Police had little luck getting cooperation from a Cotuit man who had just been stabbed during an altercation at the Hyannis Transportation Center.
Met with profanities and a vengeful threat that he was going to “handle it on his own,” Barnstable Police investigators were left wondering how a man of approximately 41 years of age received two stab wounds, one to the back of the head, the other to the upper back.
According to Sergeant Ben Baxter the victim’s wounds are non-life threatening.
While police are still baffled as to what actually took place, they have determined that a nearby report of gunshots about a block away in the Yarmouth Road area at approximately 9:30pm is likely unrelated.
Although police are left with less than helpful leads, they do know that excess alcohol likely contributed to the incident and subsequent lack of cooperation.
According to one veteran police officer, the stab victim was someone that he was not accustomed to dealing with.
