HYANNIS- Thursday- At approximately 11:50pm a white male entered the Cumberland Farms on West Main Street across from Country Gardens, showed a black handgun, and robbed the place.
Armed Robber then fled down Suomi Road on foot.
A multitude of Barnstable Police patrol units and detective units converged on the general area IN LESS THAN ONE MINUTE.
A description was immediately put out to all combing the area of a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, wearing a light grey hooded sweat shirt, tan shorts, and black sneakers.
Detective Brian Guiney interviewed the female store clerk and investigated video. Updates were quickly provided…
K-9 Officer Troy Perry and tracking dog Ali immediately began to track down Suomi Road and around the adjacent businesses.
It was soon learned by all officers that the suspect was likely contained within immediate block area…
Meanwhile, back inside Jack’s, a local pub, a suspicious man entered, sat down next to a woman, asked for a light of his cigarette, and asked the bartender for a drink.
Witnesses inside the bar observed the swarm of police vehicles buzzing around outside, just footsteps from Cumberland Farms. A dutiful bar patron went out to speak with an officer pulling into the parking area. Officer Gino Desruisseaux and other officers were not fooled by the “Cool Hand Luke” ploy and captured their man.
The suspect was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery.
