DENNIS - At approximately 2:52am on Wednesday morning July 4th, 2007 Dennis Police Patrolmen Nicholas Patsavos and Henry Jessop were dispatched to the area of Route 28 and School St. in West Dennis for a report of a disturbance.

Upon their arrival, officers began checking the area during which Patrolman Patsavos observed three males run from a tent which had been set up on the property of Westies Shoe store, 416 Route 28 West Dennis for the sale of items to the public.  Patrolman Patsavos observed that each of the subjects was carrying clothing and footwear.  All of the subjects refused to stop when instructed to by the officer.

A foot pursuit ensued in which Patrolman Patsavos caught up to one of the individuals, and following a struggle, the suspect and officer fell to the ground.  Upon falling to the ground Patrolman Patsavos received an injury to his right shoulder, but managed to gain control of the suspect and pin him on the ground, where assisted by Patrolman Jessop, he was handcuffed.

The suspect was later identified as Robert S. Daniels, age 22 of Hudson Rd. in Halifax, Mass.  Mr. Daniels is being charged with Breaking & Entering in the Night-time, Larceny, Trespassing and Malicious Destruction to a sign of a nearby business. Mr. Daniels was released on his own recognizance for appearance in the Orleans District Court on Thursday morning July 5th, 2007

Patrolman Patsavos was transported from the scene to Cape Cod Hospital, by Dennis Fire/Rescue, where he was treated and released.  Patrolman Patsavos is expected to return to duty following recuperation from the injury to his shoulder.

Recovered as result of the investigation was approximately $300 worth of merchandise taken from the store. Dennis Police are following up leads as to the identity of the remaining two suspects.
