WEST BARNSTABLE - Route 6 and Route 132 was the scene of yet another accident Thursday afternoon about 3:15 PM. There have been at least 4 relatively serious accidents within 1/2 mile of this dangerous intersection in the past several days.
Upon arriving at the scene Barnstable Police Patrol Officers immediately requested West Barnstable Fire Rescue, a supervisor, accident investigators, and BCI for photos indicating that this was indeed a serious accident.
It was not immediately clear exactly what happened except that from appearances at the scene a white motor vehicle was apparently attempting to enter the westbound on ramp to Route 6 Mid-Cape Highway directly across from Burger King entrance when the car was struck on the right rear quarter panel and bumper by a motorcycle apparently traveling straight northbound on Route 132.
The impact completely tore the rear bumper from the car and the motorcycle stopped in front of the bottom of the westbound exit ramp. At least two people were taken to Cape Cod Hospital. A male victim was loaded into a West Barnstable Fire Rescue Ambulance after being stabilized at the scene. It is not immediately known what his condition was.
A female victim was treated on the pavement for some time before she was loaded into a COMM ambulance for transport to the hospital.
It took about 75 minutes to clear the scene. Barnstable Police are investigating. Return to this page later for updates and more photos.
