HYANNIS – At 10:30pm on Tuesday night, Barnstable Police responded to a call in the area of Beth Lane in.

Several officers searched the area for a reported suspicious person.

Shortly thereafter K9 Officer John Campbell encountered a subject on a bicycle coming from around a house on Pitcher’s Way. Upon seeing Officer Campbell, the subject attempted to take off on the bike. Officer Campbell managed to run down fleeing suspect and take him into custody.
Meanwhile back on Beth Lane, other BPD officers found a broken cellar window in a vacant home that appeared to be the result of an unsuccessful Breaking and Entering attempt.

Barnstable Police quickly began to investigate the connection between the detained subject and the broken window.

11:45pm Update: Hyannis News has just learned from Barnstable Police Sergeant Ben Baxter that they now have enough evidence to charge the suspect with the following crimes:
1. Breaking and Entering at Night with Intent to Commit a Felony
2. Resisting Arrest
The suspect will also be held in protective custody until police feel he is able to conduct himself in a safe and sober manner.
