HYANNIS - At about 3:15 PM Monday afternoon Barnstable Police received a report that a Taxi had collided with a utility pole of Ocean Street near the Veterans Park Beach. The accident turned out to be at the exit to the Kennedy Memorial parking lot.

From appearances at he scene, the Town Taxi was apparently headed north of Ocean Street toward the center of town when for some reason he left the travel lane and his right front bumper and fender impacted the utility pole. An airbag on the passenger side appeared deployed, and there was evidence on the dirver's side windshield that the drivers head struck the windshield causing several spider web type cracks in the glass.

The Taxi driver was treated at the scene and evaluated by Hyannis Fire Rescue and although his injuries did not appear to be serious he was transported to CCH as a precaution.

Barnstable Police are investigating.
