HYANNIS- According to a press release by Detective Sergeant Sean Balcom of the Barnstable Police two major drug traffickers are being held at the Barnstable Police Facility until Monday on $50,000 cash bail each.
On Friday, 6/29/07, Barnstable, Yarmouth, and Falmouth Detectives completed a two month investigation resulting in the arrests of two individuals for selling heroin and cocaine in the Mid-Cape area.
A dedicated undercover Falmouth Police Officer was able to infiltrate a ring of drug traffickers responsible for bringing in large quantities of heroin and cocaine from Providence, RI.
Several undercover purchases of heroin and cocaine were made which helped detectives build a solid case. As a result 600 bags of the heroin, valued at $12,000, were seized and prevented from hitting the streets. Heroin is a dangerous and highly addictive narcotic which frequently ruins lives and leads to many deaths statewide… there is no doubt that this drug sting saved lives!
Aside from the heroin, 14 grams of cocaine was also seized.
On Friday, Steven Green of Providence, RI was arrested by the Cape Cod Regional SWAT Team on Main Street Hyannis after selling heroin and cocaine to the undercover officer. Green was charged with 4 counts of Distribution of Heroin and 1 count of Distribution of Cocaine. Green was also a fugitive for crimes committed in the state of Georgia.
Also on Friday, a search warrant was executed at the residence of Scott Travers located at 383 Pitchers Way in Hyannis. 300 bags of heroin were found and seized at that location.
Scott Travers was charged with Possession of Heroin With Intent to Distribute/Subsequent Offense, as Travers recently finished serving a 3 and half year prison sentence for Trafficking Cocaine.
The investigation is ongoing with Jarren G. Watkins still at large.
