News Mutt takes a bite out of the Gryboski Decision on Times Website

By News Mutt on 21 August, 2007 03:48:00

These comments are the actual posted responses to today's Cape Cod Times website article entitled Abused doctor's mother 'had no idea' by Hilary Russ (I sometimes agree with Hilary's articles, but definately not today!)

Post 1 of 2 from HyannisNewsXcom:

The part where the mom cried about not spanking Gryboski really did get to me, I have the same parenting views... but this is MURDER/Manslaughter and THE CASE WAS MISHANDLED. Lancaster is dead; he cannot defend these allegations in this article (pure rubbish). Projection, yes. Fact, NO... As for L. PUTNUM of "Indy House," I have very little faith she has the slightest clue when it comes to DV, her judgment is clouded by bias, I wouldn't let her council an abused cat, let alone any human being I cared about... LANCASTER WAS THE FIRST DOMESTIC MURDER VICTIM THIS YEAR, NOT GRYBOSKI... (the one obvious thing that Lancaster clearly did wrong was to take a tape measure to a gun fight) I'M NOT BUYING IT

Post 2 of 2 from HyannisNewsXcom:

.

It's getting to a point in this "Commonwealth" where it would be wise for the "normal" male to purchase a sex change and a "Lady's Smith and Wesson!" Because it's beginning to sound like it's OPEN SEASON on all guys, especially the ones you don't like if you're FEMALE, RICH, and WELL CONNECTED... DIFFERENT GENDER, DIFFERENT (more favorable) LAWS across the board..... In less than a year, a Hyannis man is convicted to life in prison with no chance of parole for the murder of a Truro woman, a Manhattan man is sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for the murder of a Nantucket woman, and a Barnstable woman hands the smoking gun to the DA and walks free after leaving some pocket change for bail, claiming self-defense and ALLEGING "20+ years of abuse" justified shooting her husband to death... (I wonder if I'd be better off blonde or brunette????)

.

As I expected some commenters on the Times site agree, while others are disgusted... those disgusted seem to think I shouldn't have an opinion on this issue for many reasons... but it's alright for them to have an opinion, for many reasons... strange.

.

Afternoon posts:

post 3: As for "credibility" I’m not denying I said these things... a man is dead and there are too many open ends... THE CASE WAS MISHANDLED... so please don't shoot me! lethal self defense is when you're out of options, this case should have been tried... it wasn't and now we have a slippery slope, two sets of rules, ones for certain women, and ones for the rest of us... I’m not judging Gryboski, I can't, she didn't go to trial because her defense played the "abused woman" card, which is one hell of a card in this state, and yes I saw the two marks on her face, I was at court when she did the perp walk, nobody will ever really know how they got there... but Lancaster had two bullet holes and she confesses to that...

.

post 4:

this case fascinates me because it illustrates a very real dichotomy here in our ultra liberal state of MA...Some people accused me of having a 50s mentality and that could be further from the truth. I'm a modern man I believe the same laws should apply equally to both genders, but they dont'...

.

post 5:  and as for L. Putnum of Indy House, I've spoken with her on several occasions and Putnum has a very biased view on these issues and historically this is well documented. How would people of her ilk like it if I said this is 2007, not the 80s.... she has an 80s mentality.... According to Putnum I don't qualify to have an opinion on these issues because of my gender... whatever, men shouldn't need a "men's movement" to be protected from being gunned down in their own living room by a spouse.

.

post 6:  Thank you Guardian Angel... Let the laws apply equally to all! and this dichotomy is one of the real life tragedies in this State of MA... I love this state, but the "love affair" is quickly loosing its thrill- in fact the thrill is just about gone- and I'm not alone here... Our numbers in this State are fastly falling because the rules only apply to some, think about it, it's disgusting!

.

post 7 (this is getting fun!):

Great! I love stats, they're easy to manipulate. So you're saying what? That women should have the advantage in court, like they already do here in Mass., or should the law be applied equally for all, which is my point. Statistically a child in the United States is far more likely to be killed by the Mother...(and I believe they also have a woman card defense for that too)... so what does that mean, mom killing kids compared to dad? NOTHING... the laws should still apply equally regardless of race, gender, etc... In Mass. they simply don't, and they haven't in quite some time.

.

Post 8:

Dear hepsebah: Okay- call me an OJ sympathizing wife beater... YOU JUST PROVED MY POINT... this is about your biased hatred and abuse towards men, and it's also about you having control over what others think... Are you going to shoot ME now because I disagree with the Gryboski decision?

.

Post 9: good points... They keep showing pictures of Gryboski's shiner and fat lip... DOES ANYONE HAVE A PHOTO OF WHAT LANCASTER LOOKED LIKE THE MORNING AFTER... maybe we can publish his photo as evidence of domestic violence, compare both and see who came out of the fray better off.

[stand by for more posts, if I can find the time...]

P.S.- Thank you for not shooting me!

  • These are old comments and here it is almost coming up to a year of Pat's death. What happened is just tearing at our family's hearts ....I for one was not asked to the gj guess why ....because when the da's dect came to me I was ready to defend my brothers life.. but no they ( the da's office) asked the other siblings but not me.. We had a feeling from the begining that Pat's best interest was not being shown to the public. You should read the obit again. He was murded by Ann....I would like to see all the data that they collected is that possible!!!

  • Something is very wrong here--I think the wife and son got away with murder. I can't believe that a big young boy like the son could not protect himself aganist a 50 year old smaller man recovering from surgery. This is just plain out murder. I think 48 Hours should investigate this one. I would hate to live in this town and state where there is no investigation at all--murderers are allowed to go free if they have money and position. This is a disgrace.

  • WHO WAS CHOSEN TO TESTIFY BEFORE THE GRAND JURY? PEOPLE ASSUME BECAUSE THE GRAND JURY DID NOT INDICT HER THAT THEY WERE GIVEN ALL OF THE FACTS. HOW MANY PEOPLE SPOKE ON LANCASTER'S BEHALF OF THE 27 PEOPLE. DID HIS DOCTOR TESTIFY? WAS IT BALANCED? DID FORENSICS SUPPORT HER CLAIM?

  • I am not a resident of Your fine state, I am a resident of Colorado. The reason I am writing this is to add a perspective to this case that no one, and I mean no one associated with this case, wants to deal with. As I stated, I live in Colorado, a place that Pat Lancaster came to hunt Elk many years. You see I was his brother-in-law for 17 years. I divorced Ann Grybosky's younger sister in 1999 because I could not put up with the dominating personality of my ex-wife. My ex-wife, had a gift when it came to getting her way. If she did not get her way then there was any number of problems she would start. After 17 years of being the "Black Sheep" of the family, the one who owned guns, taught my kids to shoot, and would actually eat venison and Elk, I divorced and moved to Colorado, the state I grew up in. In the 17 years I was exposed to the Gryboski family, every female member has the same talent for manipulation, including the mother. The father is a very nice man and had a very successful medical practice in Boston, I like him very much still. I believe the shooting of Pat was calculated and performed in cold blood. Pat was a very forceful man with his voice, I have never seen him touch his wife. I have however seen the oldest child go at his mother in the past and Pat stepped in. I was continually chastized for owning weapons and teaching my children the proper use of them. It was even mentioned that either Pat or I would harm our wives. It didn't happen that way, I moved away from a bad situation and Pat paid for staying in a bad situation with his life! I can not begin to understand the reasoning for not taking this case to trial, I am so glad I live in a state other than Massachussetts. I am totally convinced Ann Gryboski shot her husband in cold blood and had her son hit her to make her story stick. We will never know since the case is not getting to go to trial, and Pat Lancaster is still dead.
