For the first time in our nation's history the population of Massachusetts is steadily falling... people are leaving in droves... but wait! Before you start packing your bags, please listen to what some were once saying back in the 1980s about another state in the Union which had it's own set of problems. But many hung in there, despite being sickened, and fought, resulting in recent clean-up efforts.
"The Idaho Cleanup Project (ICP) involves the safe, environmental cleanup of the Idaho National Laboratory site, which has been contaminated with waste generated from World War II-era conventional weapons testing, government-owned research and defense reactors, laboratory research, and defense missions at other U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) sites. The 7-year, $2.9 billion cleanup project, funded through the DOE's Office of Environmental Management, focuses equally on reducing risks to workers, the public, and the environment and on protecting the Snake River Plain Aquifer, the sole drinking water source for more than 300,000 residents of eastern Idaho." -(from the Idaho Cleanup Project website)

Often compared to Brockton, Hyannis can be viewed as a cesspit with a yacht club, with many problems from high crime to lack of jobs providing a livable wage; we've become the dumping ground for just about every social problem in Southeastern Mass., from the homeless to the violently disabled... but does that mean better days are not in the foreseeable future? We've got plenty of government and town buildings, town vehicles containing a virtual army of qualified leaders and planners... you name it and "the Town" of Barnstable has someone in charge of looking into it... things just have to improve around here real soon, right?

absolutely not, there are absolutely no problems on cc!!!(that's my story and i'm stickin' to it!):
Police closed down a section of Winslow Gray Road for two hours yesterday afternoon after receiving a report that a man had barricaded himself inside his home and was threatening suicide or violence against any police who approached him.
The man’s mother, who lives off-Cape, called police and said her son was armed with a knife and wanted the police to kill him, according to Yarmouth police. The man has what police described as “an extensive background of violence,” towards others,” police said.
Patrol officers, backed by a SWAT team, went to the home of the man whose name has not been released, to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the situation.
In the meantime a female friend of the man contacted him and persuaded him to leave the house peacefully and check himself in to a residential substance abuse program. (Posted by blogcensorship, 02 October, 2007 12:53:03)
HYANNIS - Barnstable police are investigating an incident in which a woman was discovered tied up in a Hyannis house by employees of a nearby car dealership.
Police are not releasing details at this point, but said this morning that the woman’s sister admitted tying her up. The sister allegedly told police that the woman had a drug problem and tying her up seemed the most immediate solution to the problem.
ANY GOT IT YET?!!
