CCH ON TRAUMA ALERT: Pedestrian struck while crossing Route 132… [VIDEO]

UPDATE: A Barnstable police accident reconstruction expert was on scene investigating…

HYANNIS – It was a tragic scene on Route 132 this evening after witnesses discovered a badly injured man down in the roadway.

At about 6:00PM, Barnstable Police and Hyannis Rescue responded to Route 132 in front of McDonald’s and the Christmas Tree Shopping Plaza for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

A man, described as being 55-years-old, was unconscious in the roadway. He was transported to CCH. CCH was also placed on a trauma alert.

Barnstable Police are investigating. No further details available at this time…

    I assume this man was walking across 132 when he was hit. That is one dangerous area to be crossing, even during the daytime. I’ve even seen a young woman running across 132 towards the mall while pushing a baby stroller! God forbid someone was driving by while distracted.

    The only safe place to walk across is at the traffic lights, but some people don’t want to walk down there so they take a chance further up near the rotary.

    I hope this man will recover from his injuries.
