It bothers me when so many women turn on men as soon as they have a baby. A man that makes $12 an hour and has to pay 1/3 of it in taxes, leaves $8 an hour to live off. How is he supposed to live? Wait, you don't care... and neither does the court. What do you want? $400 a week? You should have chosen a lawyer. It makes me sick to hear the complaints of so many women. Woman UP and be a mother and support the child you brought into this world. Do you receive Section 8, welfare, foodstamps, WIC...? If you answered yes, WE ALL ARE PAYING FOR YOUR CHILD. Knock it off already with your complaining about what he's NOT doing for you and do for yourself. I got custody of my daughter when she was 2 years old and raised her. She's now 21. I recieved NO CHILD SUPPORT. I didn't chase any child support. So don't tell me I don't know what it's like.

where to begin- they'll tell you it's better for dads because they occasionally screw some poor mother. just went through the whole family service thing at barnstable . barnstable family court with it's family services and independence house office might as well be a feminist rally. there's like No men in the place! i got off with only $250 a week for two kids! then health insurance i pay. dental. braces. breast implants for my ex (joking). i'm thinking about becoming gay, would if i didn't get a lifes worth of porking during the divorce. now just need to find a good trailer park and all set

The problem is that there's no accountability in the courts and especially at DOR.

Hey all single dads! Ever try to get your kid’s records from Barnstable Public Schools (ie. Report cards, sports schedules...)? They make you provide paperwork and jump through hoops, asking for everything short of a piss test and DNA sample. But if you’re a woman who claims to be the mom I know for a fact that your word is good enough. Freakin' A-wipes

Hey, all I was trying to say is that the Massachusetts DOR sucks! My support payment is low because he LIED and no one cares! He doesn't work, and I don't get my child support, and no one does anything! He was given a suspended sentence, didn't pay, and he walked out of the courtroom! Is that right? NO. My situation isn't half as bad as other people, and I am thankful for that. My daughter doesn't go without because of me. I work full time, I drive her to her sports, I take her to the doctor, I help her with her homework. My problm is not with being single, and raising a beautiful young lady, but with the DOR lack of respect for hard working good people who try to do the right thing.

"Yo" Rob, what you need to do is to find a nice single mom that receives child support (preferable for 3 kids), receives housing, and Welfare with foodstamps- that's called a "Massachusetts TriFecta" my man! It's a surer bet than playing scratch tickets.

I'd rather be a single mom, than a single dad... I'll trade places with any day. BTW- I love women, especially ones that are brave enough to become mothers. But if you had a son would you encourage him to become a father in this state, knowing that over 50% of couples eventually split up? Be honest with yourself. Single dads are far more likely to get sick, not receive health benifits, commit suicide, be poor, not have a driver's license, be homeless, be insulted and disenfranchised, not see their kids, take orders on how and when they can parent...

Yo Single MUM, sorry ‘bout your pain… but guess what, it sounds like he has already gone “deeper underground…” Here’s a fact for you, I have “Physical Custody,” yea that’s right, but does DOR care or give me respect. I’ve filed modifications and nothing happens. And my daughter is getting hurt by all the in-fighting. And why should parents become pitted against each other in the first place. The current system is adversarial, where one parent “wins” and the other looses… but it’s mainly the children that lose because in many cases one parent becomes disenfranchised when things become desperate and it’s the system that always profits. Parents need to fork over more money for attorneys and court costs, etc… Why is it like this? Is it because “family court” is a racket for the attorneys and all the government hacks that go along with it. Yes, this state is soon going to be fatherless, with even more problems than we have now! BTW- your support order is unusually low. And I know that it’s tough for single moms… I used to be paid by the state to advocate for young moms and dads until I quit after learning that the system’s broken. It’s tough for single moms, but in general it’s much tougher for single dads. Sorry about your situation. But you have to ask yourself why it’s like this… Should it be a crime when a dad becomes sick, loses a job, misses a payment because he’s broke? I use to more sympathetic to single moms, but today I’m just a parent who happens to have a penis, and I’m getting screwed! What happens to a dad when the take his drivers license? Do you think that action makes it any easier for him to get back on his feet and support his children? And why doesn’t this state discriminate against dads in all their social programs?

I agree 100% about your comments regarding the DOR and family court, except the opposite is happening to me. My ex only pays child support by tax refunds, and an occasional payment here and there. He LIED on his financial statement, saying he made $12 an hour as a mechanic (Yeah right). When he didn'y show up to court again (why would he show up, no consequences from a no show at Family Court), DOR called and found out he made $18 an hour before he was fired. Instead of ordering my payments going up like I requested, I get another continuence, where once again I will show up, he won't, and nothing will happen. Certainly won't see any child support. And if you think I am just looking for more money, his order is $62 a week, and they won't make him pay half of my daughters orthodontist bill because it wasn't "medically necessary". WHAT???? Who is getting screwed by the system here? Not him, and not even me. My daughter is the one who is losing out here, because Daddy refuses to work so he doesn't have to pay child support. I know the system can really suck for some fathers who do care about there kids, and the courts screw them, but because this jerk doesn't owe me $10,000 (yet) nothing will get done!
