The best interest of the children statute is a joke, and the poster who blabs about some alleged deadbeat dad case is talking out his hiney. How can a guy be a deadbeat dad if he is paying his court ordered child support? How does this nitwit know what factors the court used to determine support obligation? The eighty dollars a week was based on a variety of factors, none of which the poster is aware. In the case the poster is referring to, the mother received a mortgage free house and all its contents, child support and alimony, has a well paying job, and a second husband with whom she has other children. This mother consistently refused to allow the father his rightful visitation to the children, and the courts did nothing to enforce visitation rights of fathers. Christmas, birthday gifts and letters were thrown away, effectively alienating children from their dad. Phone calls to the children were not answered, and messages were not returned. This abusive behavior is considered MALICIOUS MOTHER`S SYNDROME, and it is not all that uncommon, especially in Massachusetts, where fathers are often criminalized for trying to be fathers to their children. This father went to court 44 times over a period of 7 years to exercise his court ordered right to see his children. The mother simply refused, and the judge just issued another order, which was defied by the mother over and over again. We need a strong father`s rights group on Cape Cod, as kids grow up, move away from their abusive mothers, and end up in extensive therapy because of the abandonment issues they suffered at the hands of their malicious mothers.

best intererest of the children- you have it backwards. the state should not interfere with a parent's right to parent, like they are big brother... other states don't. and who says the majority should be "punished" for the actions of a very few. and who said dads should pay support when they have to provide for their kids when they have them, which usually turns out to be a lot these days? (why not split the difference on costs...) women make just as much as men these days, if not more... it's 2008, not 1955! you are talking napolianic nonsense! this is america and there a cival laws that require due process, not systematic descrimination based on gender!... please go back back to your cave, or at least stop being so predjudice based on gender. people like you are the problem. not the random disenfranchised parent who becomes a "criminal" for being a mom or dad. EQUAL PARENTING LAWS NOW. (the alternative is the continuing deterioration of our society and decline in the population of Massachusetts, a state i once loved, yet one which has become the DEEP SOUTH of parenting with its draconian bs!)

What about fathers that only have to pay $80.00 per week child support for 2 children and don't even do that? Fathers that don't get their children Christmas or birthday gifts for years and years and aren't involved in their children's lives. What about deadbeat dads who get paid under the table so as to not have to pay child support for their children? Or the ones who don't put their assets in their own name and use different addrresses? That is a gisgrace! That is the real crime. Those are the ones who make it difficult for the rest of you fathers that are involved in your children's lives and who try to do the right thing. I would be more upset that those deadbeats are ruining it for you. I am sure it is impossible to tell who is telling the truth and who is lying about their incomes.

What is sad is what our Family Courts do to children. Pre divorce, both parents have legal custody of the child(ren). When the parties file for divorce the first thing the courts do is take away custody from one fit parent(aka Father) Why do they do this? So that they may now order that fit parent to pay child support of which that court gets Federal money through Title IV-D. Our Family Courts are destroying children for their own financial gain! Impossible child support orders that are often 40% or even more of takehome pay criminalize good fathers. Fathers go to jail for health problems, losing a job and many other things out of their control because a JUDGE thinks he should be making some level of income. Of course judges have no training or experience in economics, the job market or even the best interest of the children. Anyone who studies the Mass. "Family" court system will come to the conclusion that it does what is WORST for children and families about 85% of the time. This is a plain scientific fact because equal time with both parents has been scientifically proven best for children. Yet 85% of custody awards are for sole custody. Experts now consider sole custody to be "child ABUSE". Children brough up in sole custody homes with have a 93% chance of divorce and will never learn to deal with the other sex. They will most oftne fail in life in general. However, what people don't know is that states, including Massachusetts, get BILLIONS of dollars annually from the federal government to drive up child support. Under Title 4d (welfare reform) states are offered rewards to drive up child support collection. And what better way to drive up collections than to assign impossibly high child support awards under the lie that this is in the "best interest of the child". Hiltler said "convince everyone it is for the children and you can get them to do anything" or something like that. Shared parenting was voted for by 84% to 86% of the Mass. voters in 2004 yet it is being stopped in the legislative-judicial committee by guess who? Yes divorce lawyers that want custody battles to continue to generate $2 billion annually (just Mass. with 50,000 divorces per year) in legal fees and ruin children's lives. The divorce system is a morally and ethically disgusting cesspool of people who destroy families for profit. The Massachusetss lawyers' rule of thumb" is : "Don't let the couple settle until we have billed 40% of their estate in legal fees." This is criminal fraud and happening daily in most divorce cases. Anyone who has been through this system understands is a scam for lawyers and does not help familes. It should be shut down and rebuilt from the ground up like it was in England recently. However, no politicians have the political backbone and ethical fortitude to save our children from out of control government and lawyers. It is NOT about child "support" but about helping families through crisis without bankrupting them. Only lawyers want to make it all about money and mislead the public to believe this is about children.

why have kids...one exuse after another! How about the lack of jobs...look at cape cod? why freaking move to a place that has little economy, high housing prices, little public transit...ectect. People do not think, just wait for the state to bail them out. People do not want to parent anymore, who has time for that with big redsox games, oprah, dr.phil reality tv, they are distracted from reality.

I hear that Canadian laws are much more fair for dads, than the US laws, particularly Mass. laws, which are BULLSHIT. And partially because of this, the Dads are leaving Mass. in droves. And hey....there is supposedly a shortage of men on the East Coast of Canada.......why don't all the unappreciated Dads in Mass. move to the East Coast. I'm sure you would be welcome and appreciated.
