Poll: Who's dumber?
Are girls dumber than than boys? Or is it the other way around?
Like most guys, I'm quite smart thank you
Hey, just because I'm a girl, it doesn't make me dumb
Men like me have bigger brains. It's science!
I am a girl, and clearly smarter than my guy friends

Fatal Shooting in Hyannis Residence

  • Thank you for your candor as far as professionalism on the police force... As a new publication we started reporting on local crime about the same time as the BPD changed to their current administration... as someone very fimiliar with that agency I can say I've seen improvement in the area of community relations. I am also very pleased with Chief MacDonald's management style and sincere concern for the town's neighborhoods and children... please don't let a few bad apples from the past keep you from continuing to reach out to local law enforcement... the need your help and at Hyannis News we appreciate your concern and wish you the best in your efforts to make Hyannis a safer place... thanks again for your comments

  • HOw bout the police department we live here have called them numerous times and they never come out. And when they do nothing is accomplished. Also one time when we did call we heard on our police scanner the cop callers called. What about their professionalism. My husband who is disabled had someone threaten him and the police didnot come out. But if that one neighbor called they would be hear in a heart beat. Also a response about a cleanup before a tragedy happens....too late it did last night someone died.

  • I happen to know several families living on GP and I know them to be good people in an unfortunate environment... while reporting I frequently drive through the area and have found the people there both friendly and concerned about their children who have no choice in where the play... it's unfortunate that several "bad eggs" have to make things difficult for everyone else... My prayers today are for Jacques and his family. Tragic.

  • No one has a right to judge what happens in any neigheberhood. You always have good and bad. I have lived on GP for 7 years I own my house and have seen it change. I knew when I bought my house the reputation it held and I still like living here. I am very friendly with many families. You cannot blame rap music, baggy pants or uneducated people because I am not and neither are my children. Hyannis because of the population of Hyannis more populated than most towns we are a city. And things happen in a city. I didnot know of the victim but I feel sorry for his family and friends loss. I also feel disrepected by the Barnstable Police because I live here but my family are good people I would never change my residence and I feel never say it couldnot happen in yours

  • Hi Jacques Sellers is my wife's niece. We and his parents live in Raleigh NC and Jacques was visiting with an Uncle in Hyannis. We believe that Jacques was with people he may have met. Does anyone know who owns or lives at 36 General Patton Drive? We only know at this point what we read but ned to know the circumstances around his death. We believe that only he knows the people at that house, why he was there, what goes on there? Was this really just random. We have so many questions. If you can answer any please do at pharris27560@yahoo.com thx

  • Oh my goodness, what about the people who live there, go to work, take care of their children, houses and yards. HUH??? I agree that something should be done but there are alot of positive people who live in that area also!! Don't be so quick to judge!!!

  • Someone needs to step up and clean up this area before something very tragic happens. Do people forget that there is an elementary school, a public skateboard park, ice skating rink, little league fields, and a playground in this neighborhood? The playground at Hyannis East Elementary is covered in graffiti, trash, and broken glass. Are the town officials waiting for a stray bullet to enter one of these areas before something is done?

  • good luck in hyannis! its been taken over by this hip hop, cell phone tatooted, no education crowd who loves this thug lifestyle, just like the music they listen to!

  • Why doesn't the town just buy up all the properties on General Patton Drive, Fresh Holes Road and Pufferbellies? They can plant daisys and have peace rallies. What's so funny 'bout peace, love and u-hun-der-sta-handing?
