BARNSTABLE – Two Brockton men were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery Monday evening.
On May 7th at 7:45pm, officers responded to Indian Hill Road where they encountered three individuals claiming they had just been robbed at gun point by two men they met for a drug transaction, according to a Barnstable Police press statement.
The two men were identified as 25-year-old Valter Barbosa and 18-year-old Nathon Ribeiro-Neves, both of Brockton.
One victim alleged Ribeiro-Neves physically restrained him, while Barbosa pulled a firearm from his waistband demanding cash and drugs.
The perpetrators fled with one victims’ backpack, containing narcotics and personal items.
Approximately 1 hour later, the suspects’ vehicle was stopped by Massachusetts State Police on Rte. 3 in Plymouth.
The Massachusetts State Police Air Wing also could be heard assisting with the traffic stop. According to radio transmissions, one suspect was taken into custody right away, while the other was arrested nearby a short while later.
State troopers recovered the stolen backpack and located a replica firearm under the driver’s seat.
Barbosa and Ribeiro-Neves were placed under arrest and transported to the Barnstable Police Department where they were booked for Armed Robbery, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault & Battery, and Larceny of property valued over $1200.00.
Both Barbosa and Rebeiro-Neves were reportedly ordered held without bail after both pleaded not guilty during today’s arraignment. There will be a dangerousness hearing for both individuals next Wednesday…
