UPDATE – NEW VIDEO shows police processing new evidence since this morning’s crime scene photos… [DEVELOPING]

HYANNIS – Some of the vandalism was fresh just this morning, some from an ongoing investigation in recent days…

The Barnstable Police and the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Unit were at the Oak Grove Cemetery on Sea Street this morning investigating an ongoing hate crime with very serious tombstone vandalism.

As you will see in the following photos, some of the hate graffiti was directed at police officers, and some of it was anti-Semitic.

About a dozen or more tombstones were either spray painted or kicked over…

Police have some pretty good leads and evidence, but would greatly appreciate any tips from the public.

A good Samaritan has already begun trying to clean off some of the spray paint.  Some of the photos depict the ongoing cleaning process on the tombstones.

Neighbors in the area can also help by reporting all suspicious activity.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the Barnstable Police on their business line, 508-775-0387, extension 8.

It’s just crazy to think that we live in a day and age where cu or whoever perpetrated these heinous crimes think that it’s okay funny or somehow gives them respect that they would vandalize people gravestones that is disrespectful not only to the family of the people that the person themselves, it is one hell of a thing and I hope that Justice is served sooner than later

    this really gets me mad….
this cemetery has been vandalized in the past as I recall… suggestion…. hidden cameras that work day or night with movement present… (hunting cameras) because you can access the cemetery from more than just the entrances…

my condolences go out to the families of the deceased…

new laws pertaining to the vandalism to places of worship like churches & cemetery’s may also help the situation…
