NEW UPDATES IN HYANNIS HOE ATTACK… [CRIME SCENE VIDEO]
UPDATE:
In initial HN headline, based on police emergency call audio (as you can hear in the following HN crime scene video), the weapon was initially said to be an “ax.”
“CRIME SCENE VIDEO: 49-year-old Hyannis man intentionally struck in head with ax…”
… investigators have now officially confirmed that it was not an ax after all. It was, in fact, a “hoe.”
A garden hoe, to be more precise.
Officials also confirmed that the female arrested in the aforementioned hoe attack, was a Jessica Smith, age 32.
The Barnstable District Court entered a plea of ‘not guilty’ on behalf of Smith for the felony charge of Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, a hoe.
The victim has been identified as Matt Lojko of 198 Old Colony Road. Lojko will be 49-years-old later this month, 12 days from now. His condition remains unknown at this time, but he was bleeding profusely, yet conscious and able to communicate with first responders when HN arrived on scene yesterday. Lojko was transported to CCH under a trauma alert.

HYANNIS – DEVELOPING – Cape Cod Hospital was placed on trauma alert after a 49-year-old Hyannis man was struck in the head with an “ax” (later said to be a “hoe”) earlier this evening.
At about 7:19PM, Barnstable Police rushed to the victim’s address at 198 Old Colony Road after he called police eventually telling them he had just been struck in the head with an ax.
As you will hear in the following HN video, police officers urgently requested rescue to the scene.
The victim, a lifelong resident of Hyannis, was bleeding profusely from obvious trauma consistent with being intentionally struck in the head with an ax.
In the video, you will also hear police immediately put out that there was probable cause for the arrest of a female suspect said to have fled the scene in a green van with her father.
According to radio transmissions, the suspect was taken into custody at a West Main Street area address, likely to be charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
