Search Warrant Results in Seizure of Weapons
An investigation in Falmouth led to the seizure of an illegally possessed AR-15 style Assault Weapon (rifle) and shotgun.
Falmouth Police, with assistance from the Upper Cape Special Response Team served a search warrant at a residence located on Pitch Pine Lane at about 7:12 pm on Wednesday. The incident was part of an ongoing investigation, which started with a tip that the suspect was in possession of an assault weapon (rifle) and a sawed-off shotgun.
Investigators searched the property, located, and seized an AR-15 style Assault Weapon (rifle) and a Remington 870 Pistol-Grip Pump Action Shotgun, including 500 rounds of AR-15 ammunition, over 50 shells of shotgun ammunition, and four AR-15 high-capacity magazines. Upon examination, it was determined that the shotgun was not considered a sawed-off shotgun, nonetheless the suspect was not properly licensed to be in possession of the rifle, shotgun, ammunition, or magazines.
