YARMOUTH – A former Yarmouth Police Officer is facing multiple charges involving juveniles, according to Deputy Police Chief Steven Xiarhos.
The charges range from Trafficking of a Person for Sexual Servitude (one count) to Enticing a Child Under 16 (two counts), according to court information recently published by the Cape Cod Times. The suspect was also charged with providing liquor to a minor.
Richard Morrison, age 68, of Yarmouth Port, pleaded not guilty to the above charges during last Friday’s arraignment (3/10/17)…
Morrison was a Yarmouth Police Officer 25 years ago, serving as a patrolman from 1971 to 1992.
This past month’s investigation involved the Yarmouth Police Department and child advocates from Children’s Cove. The children are under 16 years of age.
Deputy Xiarhos expressed his department’s concern for the young victims, who are said to be frightened, with their parents also very worried…
Morrison allegedly knew his victims.
Due to the ages of the alleged victims and the nature of the charges being investigated, Yarmouth Police are being very careful with what they release to the media at this time.
Morrison was arrested this past Thursday and held overnight at Yarmouth Police Headquarters on $5000 cash bail pending his arraignment.
The suspect’s firearms and ammunition were seized after the YPD revoked his license to carry.
Morrison is scheduled to return to court for his pretrial hearing on March 31, according to court information published by the Cape Cod Times.
