FROM THE ARREST FILES: Trooper reports seeing Ford Escape traveling 5 MPH on Mid-Cape Highway, “swerving lane to lane…”
YARMOUTH – Trooper Brandyn Henson of the Massachusetts State Police reports that on December 14th, 2018, at about 1:20 am, while driving westbound on Route 6, he observed a vehicle suddenly swerve to avoid running into a white Ford Escape. Trooper Henson also reports seeing the Ford Escape swerving lane to lane while traveling about 5 MPH in a 55 MPH zone.
According to the report, when the trooper activated his blue lights, “the vehicle pulled over to the right [and] then began to reverse slowly towards him.”
The trooper’s report continues, “the operator was unable to identify herself at the time and had trouble removing the keys from the ignition and had to lean awkwardly to her right and remove the keys with her left hand.”
The driver told troopers she was lost and confused by the construction signs, and had been looking for a gas station. She also reportedly admitted to having beers along with her prescribed Clonidine medication. Her speech was reportedly thick and slurred, and troopers could smell a strong odor of booze on her breath.
While doing field sobriety tests, which she reportedly failed miserably, the driver also had trouble tying her sneakers, reportedly having “to brace herself with her left hand to prevent from falling over.”
The driver was then arrested on a litany of charges, including Operating Under the Influence of Liquor…
Back at the Yarmouth barracks, the suspect reportedly struggled to get out of the cruiser and was unsteady while walking up to the front door.
During the booking process, the suspect reportedly gave troopers the wrong name and date of birth.
