HYANNIS – Scary moments for a young mom on Sea Street this afternoon…
… when her minivan was rear-ended with her 3 very young children on board.
It turned out to be not as bad as it initially sounded. All three children were evaluated, with at least one child being treated… and nobody needed to be transported to the hospital.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene and Barnstable Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
NOTES: HN arrived just moments after the crash occurred and children were crying, probably more scared than anything else. But this could have been much worse if not for the fact the children were properly secured in car seats. Also, there was airbag deployment in at least one of the vehicles, which likely prevented injuries…
Summer is upon us and the streets are busy with all types of drivers, many unfamiliar with the area, etc… Please, for everyone’s sake, drive defensively!
Driving defensively involves looking ahead and anticipating the worst scenarios which hopefully never occur. It’s about being leery of pedestrian and auto traffic up ahead and behind, left and right…
It’s about putting the cellphones away and focusing on the road.
It’s about not ruining someone’s day, including your own.
It’s about getting there a few minutes later, but safer… and more relaxed because you didn’t speed, with a white knuckle death-grip on the wheel.
Yes, driving defensively, alert, and “more chill” definitely has its positive health benefits.
So please, by all means, have a very healthy, safe, and splendiferous remainder of the weekend.
P.S. – Today’s HyTown Vignette is brought to you by Monty Python… [Press play and ‘chillax’ a little 😉 ]
