HYANNIS – As you will hear and see in the following video, Barnstable Police Patrolman Mark McWilliams responded to Route 28 in the area of the Cape Cod Mall when a woman found a very young boy wandering around in the busy roadway.
The woman reportedly placed the young man in her Jeep and waited for police in a nearby parking lot.
According to a witness on scene, the woman happened to be a teacher and recognized right away the young boy was autistic, using sign language to learn he wanted some water…
Patrolman McWilliams arrived and spoke with the child, making him feel safe enough to hop into the back of his cruiser…
The boy’s parents and family arrived on scene shortly after their son had climbed into the police car. They were obviously very upset and sick with worry…
Thanks to the actions of the woman in the white Jeep, the child was safely reunited with his family.
