DOG BARKING ALERTS HOMEOWNERS AND YARMOUTH POLICE ARREST MAN BREAKING IN TO HOME AT 2AM
On Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at approximately 2AM, Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officers were dispatched to a home on Sullivan Road in West Yarmouth for a report of a residential breaking and entering that had just occurred and the suspect had fled.
The occupants of the home were fortunately not physically injured. They were awoken by their alert dog barking and were able to call police and provide a description of the suspect.
Patrol Officers converged on the area and began a saturation patrol. Within minutes, Patrol Officer Christopher Marino spotted a man matching the description walking in the immediate area.
Patrol Officer Marino encountered the suspect and detained him. Fellow Patrol Officers Christopher Kent—Rick Aprea—and Justin Haire arrived as back up support.
The suspect—who is well known to Cape Cod Law Enforcement—was positively identified by the homeowners and placed under arrest.
In addition, three Suboxone strips and nine unidentified pills were found in the suspect’s possession and entered into evidence.
The suspect was held overnight at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and transported to the Barnstable District Court this morning for arraignment.
