YARMOUTH – [Initial HN coverage] – At about 2:40AM this morning, Yarmouth squad cars rushed to the area of 83 Sullivan Road for a report of a Breaking & Entering where a man was just encountered inside someone’s house before taking off out the back…
… the suspect was believed to be heading south on or near Sullivan Road.
First officers on scene saturated the neighborhood and requested a K-9 unit.
The reporting party described the suspect as wearing a light colored t-shirt.
Then about just over 11 minutes into the call, a patrolman announced he was off with a suspect in the area of Norton Road. After a brief investigation, officers decided to take the suspect back to the scene.
HN moved into the area as soon as the K-9 unit was cancelled.
At the scene, and as you will see in the following HN Video, HN observed an elderly couple exit their home and identify the suspect as the stranger who was just inside of their house!

DOG BARKING ALERTS HOMEOWNERS AND YARMOUTH POLICE ARREST MAN BREAKING IN TO HOME AT 2AM
On Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at approximately 2AM, Yarmouth Police Department Patrol Officers were dispatched to a home on Sullivan Road in West Yarmouth for a report of a residential breaking and entering that had just occurred and the suspect had fled.
The occupants of the home were fortunately not physically injured. They were awoken by their alert dog barking and were able to call police and provide a description of the suspect.
Patrol Officers converged on the area and began a saturation patrol. Within minutes, Patrol Officer Christopher Marino spotted a man matching the description walking in the immediate area.
Patrol Officer Marino encountered the suspect and detained him. Fellow Patrol Officers Christopher Kent—Rick Aprea—and Justin Haire arrived as back up support.
The suspect—who is well known to Cape Cod Law Enforcement—was positively identified by the homeowners and placed under arrest.
In addition, three Suboxone strips and nine unidentified pills were found in the suspect’s possession and entered into evidence.
The suspect was held overnight at Yarmouth Police Department Headquarters and transported to the Barnstable District Court this morning for arraignment.
The Command Staff of the Yarmouth Police Department commends to excellent teamwork and decision making of all of the Police Officers involved, the devoted and alert canine, and the outstanding work of the homeowners for remaining calm, reporting the crime immediately, and helping the YPD hold a criminal accountable and remove him from our community.
