HN VIDEO: Driver plowed into mom pushing 3-month-old in baby carriage… and sped off from the scene…
HYANNIS – As you will hear in the following HN Video, a young mom was shook up after a man driving a large truck or SUV plowed into her 3-month-old baby’s carriage this evening.
At about 7:30PM, Barnstable Police responded to the intersection at Garden Lane and Route 28 for a hit and run accident involving a pedestrian and her baby.
Hyannis Rescue also responded and evaluated the mom and her baby… and fortunately both are okay… just shook up and stunned as to why the man decided to suddenly speed away from the scene.
HN very briefly spoke with the mom and a friend. All three were walking along the bike trail/sidewalk along Route 28. They were crossing over Garden Lane when a vehicle pulled off Route 28 and appeared to be stopping to let them finish crossing…
… instead the vehicle then plowed into the baby carriage before quickly backing out and fleeing away down Rte 28.
Our conversation was very brief, but the mom and her friend believe the vehicle was a full size Ford truck or SUV. It all happened very quick according to them.
Both mom and friend expressed that the male driver made eye contact and knew exactly what had just happened.
Barnstable police are investigating and have not officially released any details at the time of this report.
The following video highlights the scene shortly after the hit and run allegedly occurred…
