SOUTH YARMOUTH – Yesterday morning – Wednesday, December 5th – at about 12:45 am, Trooper Edward Alldredge pulled over a gray Ford Fusion traveling along Route 6.
Trooper Alldredge reportedly pulled the vehicle over for alleged speeding and a marked lanes violation.
The driver was reportedly unlicensed.
Upon further investigation, Trooper Alldredge had the driver exit the vehicle where he allegedly found him in possession of a quantity of cocaine, enough to charge him with trafficking.
The driver, Joel Williamson, age 36, of Hyannis, was arrested and transported back to the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in South Yarmouth for booking.
The Ford Fusion, a rental vehicle, with a New Jersey registration, was towed and followed back to the Yarmouth Barracks where it was it was searched by a drug sniffing K-9 unit that eventually arrived from off-Cape. No further drugs were found.
A total of 29 grams of Cocaine, allegedly found on the driver, was secured a evidence at the Yarmouth State Police Barracks.
Joel Williamson was charged with Trafficking Cocaine, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Speeding, and a Marked Lanes Violation. He was held in custody for the remainder of the evening on $10,000 cash bail.
Williamson was reportedly arraigned later Wednesday morning at Barnstable District Court.
