HN VIDEO: OUI suspect reportedly didn’t realize he was driving on just three wheels through middle of Mashpee… a more comprehensive breathalyzer at Headquarters vindicated him on all charges…
MASHPEE – The suspect was first spotted driving east on Route 151 past Mashpee Police Headquarters toward the rotary at Route 28…
… a missing fourth tire is what initially drew the attention of patrol officers.
When pulled over on Great Neck Road South, the driver, a local man born in 1998, reportedly said he didn’t realize he had just been driving on only three wheels.
Officers had their suspicions and asked the driver to participate in several field sobriety tests.
HN arrived on scene right as officers were administering a field breathalyzer test. The suspect was arrested on the suspicion of being over the limit. Officers had their doubts but had no choice but to take him in for further testing.
According to sources, the suspect’s cooperation with the officers’ investigation paid off as he eventually passed the more precise breathalyzer test back at police headquarters.
The young man was fortunate the evidence eventually came out in his favor. But it was a very close call for the young man, who was immediately released from custody and later picked up and given a ride home by his parents.
