Just what makes that “Little old Ant,” think he can move that IL-LEGAL plant…
Hyannis – [HN NOTES] – Anthony “Little Ant” Russ is no stranger to police.
In fact, he is no stranger to crime reporters, court officers, bail bondsmen, correction officers, Judges, “lawyers, guns, and money… dad, get me out of this!” Sorry, I just had a little Warren Zevon flashback.
I’m prone to flashbacks when I keep hearing someone’s name, like “Little Ant,” over and over and over again. Do you remember the lyrics to my latest Zevon flashback?
“Now I’m hiding in Honduras, I’m a desperate man… Send lawyers, guns and money; the [bleep] has hit the fan?”
Correct me if I’m wrong, but the “bleep” always seems to hit the fan for Little Ant.
In fact it wasn’t too long ago that Mr. Russ pleaded guilty to a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a handgun (I believe it was a .45…), arising from a September 2007 quarrel on Hiramar Rd.. It’s a miracle nobody was killed. The sentence was 2 years. Did he have to serve it? No. Well, not exactly. Why not? Because some Assistant Magistrate decided that Little Ant had already racked up enough “jail credit” and deemed the sentence completed because of “time served.” It is still unclear if Magistrate Scott Colgan actually said “Go and sin no more my son,” or not… Whatever he said, did it deter Little Ant from future brushes with the law? I’ll let you be the Judge…
… and correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t I recently hear his name again when he was charged with assault and battery on a corrections officer?
… and haven’t I recently heard his name in connection to a litany of drug offenses and other violent crimes? … not to mention numerous vehicle charges and other forms of reckless behavior?
I could spend all day researching Little Ant’s life of crime, but why waste our time?
The real question… the one that screamed out to me just after hearing “Little Ant” just once more for old time sake… The real question… the question of the day, no, the question of the decade… The real question is ‘Why, in the name of everything holy, is Mr. Little Ant out roaming around free to commit more Little Ant crimes?’
Anyone… anyone?
According to a Barnstable Police press release, Little Ant is out doing what Little Ant seems to do best… racking up serious charges, often related to the sale of dangerous drugs… (here’s the actual press release):
“Over the past 5 months, BPD Narcotics Detectives have been conducting a heroin and cocaine distribution investigation targeting Anthony Russ (age 25 of Hyannis). The investigation has involved numerous undercover purchases, extensive surveillance, and has centered upon two locations in Hyannis that Russ has utilized to distribute narcotics from.
“On 4/2/13, Detective LT Sean Balcom and Detective Brian Guiney obtained search warrants for the two Hyannis locations: 398 West Main St, Apt 2C, and 19 General Patton Drive. Yesterday (4/3), BPD Narcotics Detectives and SCU Officers served the search warrants. Detectives recovered quantities of heroin, cocaine, and marijuana in addition to $1300 in cash. The street value of the drugs seized is approximately $5000.00. Mashpee PD SCU Officer Mike Assad and his drug sniffing K-9 (Lola) are credited with locating the heroin hidden inside the body of an abandoned vehicle at 19 General Patton Drive.
“Anthony Russ was arrested and charged with Trafficking Heroin (18-36 grams) as well as Possession of Cocaine and Marijuana W/Intent to Distribute. Due to his criminal history, Russ was held without bail overnight at the BPD and will be arraigned on 4/4/13 in Barnstable District Court.”
By the way, 18 to 36 grams is enough to kill at least 18 to 36 people or many more, depending on the circumstances!
Poor poor Little Ant! Will he ever catch another break?
Why does everyone continue to pick on Little Ant?
LEAVE LITTLE ANT ALONE!
