HYANNIS-Thursday, September 20 at approximately 8:30pm Barnstable Police and Hyannis Rescue responded to an apartment building at the intersection of South and Main Street for some type of disturbance that was originally believed to be a “home invasion.”

A man, approximately in his twenties, was reportedly struck in the head with a 40 once Bush beer bottle.

Reportedly the victim was assaulted by a man named “Jason” (last name withheld) after he refused to give him a ride to Dennis.  The suspect fled the scene on foot accompanied by a female.

Police K-9 Officer Sean Roycroft arrived and attempted a track.  Officers at the scene also summoned Barnstable County Identification Officer Tim Wallace to the scene for photos.

Police know the suspect’s full name and currently have probable cause for arrest for the Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon – a beer bottle.

The victim was transported to the Cape Cod Hospital emergency room for stitches.
