On Monday, October 1, 2007 at 9:20 PM—the Yarmouth Police Department received a report of an erratic operator traveling eastbound on Route 28 in South Yarmouth.
The report was made by an off-duty Yarmouth Firefighter who was following the 1999 Saab as it repeatedly crossed the yellow centerlines. Yarmouth Police Patrol Officers Raymond A. Scichilone and David S. Dickey, Sr. intercepted the vehicle—confirmed the erratic operation—and stopped it on Route 28 near the intersection of Commercial Street in South Yarmouth.
Patrol Officer Dickey encountered the operator and determined that he had been drinking alcoholic beverages. After failing a series of standardized field sobriety tests the operator was arrested and taken to Yarmouth Police Headquarters.
He was held in custody overnight and is scheduled for arraignment this morning in the Barnstable District Court.
