2007 EDITOR'S PICK: Intruder Captured Sleeping on Couch After Breaking In (STRIKING VIDEO)

HYANNIS- Shortly after 1:00am on May 29, 2007 a woman returned to her Bearses Way residence and was shocked to discover someone had broken into her home.  Although frightened, she nervously peeked inside and confirmed that an unwelcomed strange man was, indeed, sleeping on her living room couch... 

A Hyannis News camera was on-scene and rolling just as the bizarre encounter unfolded! 

We then teemed up with Ch. 7 WHDH NEWS (along with other New England stations) by providing “caught on tape” footage and timely story information.  Phone calls were made in the wee hours, and at least one person in our news network was awakened out of bed to get the ball rolling... everyone had our footage and story details well before daybreak!

WHDH, in my opinion, did the best follow-up and next day "live coverage" resulting in the following classic lead primetime news story.  They also did a magnificent job in capturing the story’s humor in the interview with Barnstable Police Sergeant Sean Sweeney.  That shot alone makes their video a must see!

There's a certain rush whenever you capture footage that works... and when someone takes the story and improves upon it, it's just that more rewarding.
