YARMOUTH POLICE PRESS REALEASE: On Monday, January 21, 2008 at 9:57 PM—Yarmouth Police Patrol Officer Michael Zontini observed a white Chevrolet Blazer traveling at 50 mph in a posted 30 mph zone and fail to stop at the red light at Long Pond Drive and Forest Road intersection in South Yarmouth.
Patrol Officer Zontini stopped the vehicle as it turned onto Alewife Circle at the entrance of Swan Pond Village. Patrol Officer Zontini conducted a computerized search of the operators driving history that revealed that his license was revoked for non-payment of child support as well as being a habitual traffic offender.
Fellow Yarmouth Police Patrol Officer John Dimitres arrived as a back up officer and assisted in placing the operator under arrest. While conducting the inventory process of the suspect’s vehicle—Patrol Officer Dimitres discovered a three bladed martial arts type throwing weapon identified as a shuriken in the glove box. During a search of the suspect’s coat pocket—Patrol Officer Zontini discovered a crack cocaine pipe.
The suspect was transported to Yarmouth Police Headquarters and is scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court this morning.
