On Friday, February 9, 2007 at 11:30 AM the Yarmouth Police Department received a 911 hang up call from 39 Betty’s Path in West Yarmouth.  Yarmouth Police Patrol Investigator Christopher A. Kent and Patrol Sergeant Patrick S. Carty responded to the home and upon arrival met with a male and a female who reported that they had just been in an argument and that the female had called 911 but hung up.

As the officers were speaking with both subjects and determining what had occurred, the male suddenly ran off from the front steps of the residence and into nearby woods.  Additional Yarmouth Police Officers—including K9 Patrol Officer Marc K. Thibeault and his partner Clark—as well as the Massachusetts State Police initiated a coordinated and extensive search of the entire area including the adjacent streets.  Despite all of the efforts the subject was not located.

Patrol Investigator Kent continued an on-scene investigation and determined that the male subject had assaulted the female during the argument.  Patrol Investigator Kent identified the suspect and subsequently obtained an arrest warrant from the Barnstable District Court.

At approximately 7:00 PM—Patrol Investigator Kent contacted the suspect on his cell phone and advised him to turn himself in at police headquarters. At 7:30 PM the suspect arrived at Yarmouth Police Headquarters and was placed under arrest.  He was consequently released on bail and is scheduled for arraignment in the Barnstable District Court on Monday, February 12, 2007.
