At approximately 1:48am on Monday morning February 12, 2007 Dennis Police officers Thomas Downes and John Peters were dispatched to a condominium complex located on Route 134 in East Dennis concerning a subject of a restraining order attempting to force his way into the residence.

Dennis Police had responded to this same residence at about 7:08pm on Sunday evening February11, 2007 and at that time arrested the suspect Eric M. Nolan, 42 years of age, of Route 134 East Dennis on a charge of domestic Assault & Battery.  It is alleged that Mr. Nolan had physically attacked his live-in girlfriend and threatened some house guests earlier in the day.

Mr. Nolan was released on bail during  the evening of February 11th and at that time was also served with a restraining order barring him from the residence and further contact with the victim of the assault. Upon arriving at the residence on Monday morning the officers learned that the suspect had sent a text message and spoke with the victim by phone prior to attempting to force his way into the residence.

At this time the officers began to call the suspect’s phone and upon connecting with it they could hear ringing coming from nearby woods.  The suspect silenced the phone by sending it to his voice mail and the officers again redialed, again hearing the ringing coming from the wooded area.

The officers repeatedly called the suspect’s cell phone and followed the ringing for approximately 50 yards into the woods where they located the suspect hiding.  The suspect was arrested, without further incident and charged with three counts of violation of the restraining order.

Mr. Nolan was held without bail on these charges and will be arraigned in Orleans District Court on Monday morning February 12, 2007 on all of the charges.
