HYANNIS- Two vehicles collided at the busy downtown intersection of North Street and Barnstable Road yesterday evening.

At 8:11pm Barnstable Police summoned Hyannis Rescue to the scene to evaluate and transport one person to Cape Cod Hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to Lieutenant Kanowlton of Hyannis Fire Department.

A Hyannis Fire Department Engine also responded to disconnect vehicle's battery, making the scene safe against accidental airbag deployment and fire during investigation and towing operations.  Firefighters at accident scenes also put down absorbents to soak up vehicle fluids, emulsifiers are used to neutralize flammable liquids.  Making a scene safe protects on-scene First Responders, as well as all later traffic after emergency vehicles clear the area.

A county BCI photographer was called to take photos to aid in the investigation.

According to Officials, the passengers in the photo vehicle were uninjured.  They were reportedly wearing seatbelts while airbags deployed and lessoned impact.
