7:00pm UPDATE:  Hyannis News just learned that one person was transported to Cape Cod Hospital from a scene which officials are now calling suspicious.

Today’s blaze came dangerously close to a neighboring multimillion-dollar home.  A fence and evergreen pine  may have taken the brunt of the damage from a fire that could have easily reached the relatively short 15 feet to the neighbor’s house.

According Lieutenant Knowlton of the Hyannis Fire Department, this was a dangerous fire that would not have stopped on its own if left unchecked.  Dry conditions and significant winds put surrounding structures in imminent danger.

Although foam is sometimes needed when flammable liquids are present, firefighters were able to put down this fire using copious amounts of regular pressurized water.

Little is known as to why a person on scene was transported to Cape Cod Hospital.  Hyannis News was able to learn that the individual was not in the any of the vehicles during the fire, and was not treated for burns or smoke inhalation.

Currently the circumstances of the fire have been deemed suspicious and are still being investigated by Barnstable Police.

HYANNIS PORT- At approximately 2:50pm this afternoon Barnstable Police and Hyannis Fire Fighters rushed to a suspicious 2 car blaze at 105 Hyannis Ave.

Details are still sketchy, but Hyannis News arrived on scene at the same time as first responders and observed one of the vehicles completely engulfed in flames.

There were several loud explosions as the fire spread onto a fence and another car.

Firefighters arrived, observed the nature of the fire before quickly knocking it down by soaking both vehicles.

Due to the suspicious nature of the fire, a Barnstable patrolman radioed for two flatbed wreckers and a crime scene photographer.
