Today—the Yarmouth Police Department marks the twentieth anniversary of our School Resource Officer Program.
Since March 9, 1987—the Yarmouth Police Department and the students and staff of Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School have enjoyed an outstanding relationship of working together in a positive and proactive environment.
The School Resource Officer has an office within the school and works with student and staff as part of a team to help our community.
The three major aspects of the position are:
Law Enforcement: Enforcing the law when it is necessary and serving as a symbol of service and protection, deterring misconduct through prevention and intervention.
Education: The officer is frequently a guest speaker in the classrooms. Students and Staff are taught such subjects as the effects of alcohol and other drugs—legal and school consequences if found in possession of illegal substances—domestic violence—sexual assault prevention—traffic laws—and other issues involving the criminal justice system.
Specialized Counseling: The School Resource Officer is available to assist students, parents, and staff members... and help them overcome any problems or concerns.
Currently—Dennis–Yarmouth Regional High School is served by a Police Officer from each community.
Yarmouth Police Department SRO Nicholas J. Pasquarosa, Jr. and Dennis Police Department SRO Greg Farnkoff.
