HYANNIS- A witness who lives in the area said that a truck came around the corner onto Bacon Road and a man rolled out onto the lawn across from where she was. The full-sized GMC truck continued on about 50 yards across a front yard and through a stockade fence.
At 9:58pm Barnstable Police were dispatched to the scene and discovered that the plate on the vehicle had been reported stolen.
A report was instantly put out to all responding units that a white male with long hair and wearing blue jeans had just fled the scene on foot.
Many police units, including K-9 and Massachusetts State Troopers, arrived in the area to conduct an immediate search.
A Crime Scene Investigator dusted the vehicle for prints and took photos.
Meanwhile Sergeant Ben Baxter located a likely suspect at a nearby homeless shelter. K-9 Patrol Officer Sean J. Roycroft confirmed that the track he was conducting was heading toward the shelter where Sergeant Baxter was investigating the suspect.
Officer Owen Needham is handling the case and the investigation is still ongoing. There was also information given by the one suspect that a woman (who may have been his girlfriend) was the one actually driving the truck.
