CENTERVILLE- At 2:16pm Barnstable Police and C.O.M.M. Firefighters rushed to a structure fire on Ansel Howland Road.
The garage fire was called in by an observant neighbor. Apparently the homeowners were away and the timely call helped save the residence from what could have been extensive property damage.
Firefighters were able to arrive just before the blaze got out of hand. They quickly put the fire out using just one hose.
A truck, parked close by, was also saved from damage as it was moved forward out of the way.
The outcome would have been much worse had the arrival of firefighters been delayed a moment longer.
A significant breeze was directed right towards the main home just feet away.
