HYANNIS- At approximately 6:15pm Barnstable Police and Firefighters rushed down behind the Pope John Paul II High School for a report of a brush fire.
When they arrived the fire was still confined to a small area near the tennis and basketball courts.
Firefighters quickly soaked and extinguished the small brush fire which involved part of a plastic basketball hoop.
Two young boys were found in the immediate area, confessed to playing with smoke bombs and causing the fire. Police and fire officials had a talk with the boys and drove them home to their parents.
