HYANNIS- Just prior to 8:00am Barnstable Police and Hyannis Rescue were dispatched to a possible drug overdose at 36 Alden Way after two women discovered the scene and urgently phoned 911.

Upon arrival rescue workers soon learned that the scene was now a “police matter.”

Hyannis News has learned that a 20 year old man passed away at the scene.

One neighbor discribed him as a nice young man who once went out of his way to help her when she had recently fallen and badly injured herself.

Barnstable Police Detective John Murphy, along with members of the Massachusetts State Police CPAC Unit are investigating the death and details are still forthcoming.

Hyannis News has the name of the man but will not publish it until investigators give the go ahead.

It was a very sad scene as family members and good friends arrived one-by-one and learned the tragic news.
