HYANNIS WEST END: At approximately 1:00pm multiple Barnstable Police cruisers surrounded a vehicle parked outside of the Bank of America near the West End Rotary.
A bank employee called police regarding a man trying to pass a bad check. She informed police that he was still in the parking lot and would possibly try to flee if given the opportunity.
Officers arrived swiftly and pinned in the vehicle from all directions. Deputy Chief Craig Tamash questioned the individual as Patrolman Dunn placed him in custody. While searching the individual a knife was removed from his belt, police were taking no chances.
The suspect was transported back to the Barnstable Police Facility were was booked and charged regarding the bad check.

As an aside: When being place in the back of the cruiser, a passerby seemed pleased with the arrest and began to shout negative remarks at the suspect. Police found themselves having to deal with the passerby, telling him to keep moving, as his behavior was bordering on disorderly conduct.
