4/28/07 HYANNIS- At approximately 8:45pm Barnstable Police and 3 Hyannis Rescue units responded to a serious 2 car accident at the intersection of Route 28 and Lincoln Road.

At least 3 people were transported to Cape Cod Hospital.

According to initial reports, one of the victims is 14 years of age and Cape Cod Hospital Emergency Room personnel were put on Trauma Alert.

When Hyannis News arrived on scene one of the patients was sitting up and talking despite having serious facial lacerations.

Hyannis News also observed rescue personnel carefully extract two patients from the dark colored mini-van, stabilizing both on backboards, and wheeling them up into separate ambulances one by one.  At least one of those victims appeared to be conscious.

Traffic on Route 28 was slowed to one lane of intermittent travel for about 30 minutes.

About 45 minutes earlier in the evening police and rescue responded to a 3 car accident just up the road in Centerville near C.O.M.M. Fire Department.

Fog was thick tonight and visibility was less than optimal… it is still uncertain whether the foggy conditions had anything to do with tonight’s crashes along Route 28.
