Cotuit: At about 3:30 PM on April 30, C.O.M.M. Fire & Rescue and Barnstable Police Units were dispatched to 79 Waterford St. when a wife reported her husband had taken a serious fall down some stairs. It was also reported that he was bleeding profusely from the head.
Med Flight was dispatched with an ETA of 4:00 PM at Lowell Park on Lowell Avenue in Cotuit.
Police went to Lowell Baseball Field to ensure that the area was clear and ready for a landing.
Before transporting the patient rescue workers needed to ensure that he was breathing on his own. They then lifted the patient onto a special Med Flight Stretcher and wrapped for extra warmth and protection.
At approximately 4:30pm the patient was stabilized for flight the helicopter slowly lifted off the ground and took a gradual westerly to northern turn toward the city of Boston.
