HYANNIS WEST END-  A young family was out for a ride down Main Street on their 2 motorcycles when a collision occurred with a vehicle at approximately 4:30pm today.

When Hyannis News arrived both mother and daughter were face down on the pavement moving only slightly.  They appeared to be conscious after both full-sized motorcycles needed to be lifted off of them.

The husband/ father who was also involved in the collision, stood by with his other daughter as rescue workers carefully placed his family on stretchers, lifting them up into ambulances to be transported to Cape Cod Hospital.

According to witnesses a vehicle pulling into traffic may have collided with both bikes.

Main Street CrashWitnesses also described a horrific scene as both victims were originally trapped underneath the bikes.  Apparently the father was one of the ones who quickly lifted the motorcycles off the injured.

The accident took place in the busy West End of Main Street in front of Taryn’s Mirror near the busy intersection of Sea and Main Street.

One onlooker became woozy from the spectacle and one young woman almost passed out on the sidewalk.

Emotions were high in front of a large crowd of onlookers as police and rescue personnel did their best to help the wounded.

.

Patrol Road Supervisor Segeant Kevin Tynan, a Barnstable native who rose through the ranks, was on scene to ensure things were in order as first responders attended to the victims and collected information.

.

The accident is under investigation by the Barnstable Police.

.

ONE LAST NOTE:  In a brief interview with the father and husband of the injured, Hyannis News learned that today's ride was in celebration of Mother's Day.
