WEST YARMOUTH - Shortly before school was to let out Thursday afternoon Yarmouth Police 911 received a report that a threat had been written on a wall or mirror in a boys rest room at Mattacheese Middle School on Higgins Crowell Road. The threat in the form of a written message left in a boys bathroom said something to the effect that "I have a bomb and a gun and were going to blow up the school" according to Lt. Steven Xiarhos at the scene.
The students were sent home early and multiple police units converged on the school including Police Chief Peter Carnes, Deputy Chief Michael Almonte, Lt. Xiarhos and several Patrol officers. Barnstable County Identification Officers were also at the scene to take photos. There were about a dozen cruisers on the scene.
