HYANNIS: Thursday – Shortly after the noon hour, drivers kept Barnstable Police and Hyannis Fire Rescue units busy with accidents involving cars trying to add drive thru service to two local businesses.

The first was at the offices of Dr. Harold G Levine at 74 Park Street, just around the corner from Cape Cod Hospital. Fortunately, the woman driving this car suffered only minor injuries and was treated at the scene by Hyannis Fire Rescue.

The woman ran through the bushes and into the rear of Dr. Levine’s office from the parking lot at 62 Park Street. The car was towed from the scene but the damage was relatively minor to the car and the building.

Crash at Hyannis HondaMeanwhile, at about the same time, at the other end of town, another business experienced a similar accidental drive in attempt. Customers in the waiting room at Hyannis Honda on West Main Street were startled by a loud bang as a car ran into the building pushing in the interior wall slightly.

HyannisNews spoke to the woman operator of that car who said it happened very fast and said she was startled by it too. She still had a bit of a sense of humor even after her trying event. She was not injured and asked that we not identify her. The building suffered moderate damage to the front corner of the waiting room. The wall was broken and slightly pushed in by the impact.

HyannisNews knows of no charges being filed in either accident at this time. Both drivers and building occupants were lucky to have escaped with minor or no injuries. Both accidents remain under investigation by police.
