WEST BARNSTABLE- Tuesday- A local woman and her dog are reportedly in stable condition after their SUV flipped in the westbound lanes on Route 6 just past the Burger King exit.
Traffic on Route 6 was completely shut down for just over half an hour.
The woman remained trapped inside the vehicle for at least 20 minutes as Hyannis News cameras were rolling.
West Barnstable firefighters fought their way through traffic to get to the scene and free the victim from the wreckage. State Troopers appeared to be the first off at the scene and were busy doing what they could to help stabilize the victim and her dog.
The video footage shows the wreck with Troopers and first responders trying to help the woman still trapped upside-down. The dog was found nearby in the woods and carried up and placed on a blanket. The dog was very well behaved and allowed first responders to treat its wounds. It eventually was transported and cared for by Barnstable Animal Control Officer Charlie Lewis.
Ashley Lima, age 23, of Sandwich was transported to Cape Cod Hospital by West Barnstable Rescue according to a relative.
